LEATHER INNOVATION
ORIGINS:
Pedro Reissig is founder and director of VACAVALIENTE. Born in Buenos Aires in 1961, he emigrated to New York at age 5 and returned to Argentina in 1991. His work profoundly examines the relationship between form and structure, within a paradigm he calls techno-morphology, consolidated in his company NUDO DESIGN. His career is both academia and design practice, frequently publishing in academic as well as in cultural media. His quest for seeing his own ideas come to life has contributed from the outset to his entrepreneurial spirit, evidenced by his first design shop in New York City, to the diverse projects which he currently develops in Argentina.

THE TEAM:
Our company is integrated by a dynamic and varied group of people. The creative team directed by Pedro Reissig includes designers, artists and interns. Leandro Laurencena and Maximiliano Cifuni have been with us from the start, and new talent comes on board like Matias Fernandez Moores. Image and visual communication is directed by Ezequiel Hodari with German Geninatti’s assistance. Fernando Cia collaborates with copywriting while Paula Stoliar and Eduardo Rivero do our photography. The challenge of getting products manufactured with quality and on time is made possible by Mauro Bugna, assisted by Daniel Pace. There are many friends who have contributed to the start-up of VACAVALIENTE especially “J & P”, Marce, Raca and Orlando, as well as Enzo and Patricia Bombardi, the latter who are also heading the sales efforts in North America, and featured here at www.infinitehealthresources.com. DESIGN LAB:
The products created at our Design lab respond to different human and social practices that we consider essential to modern life and which in certain cases we find to be on the verge of extinction: writing a love letter, playing for the sake of playing, or cooking for friends. Within the wide range of products we are constantly generating, some are reduced to their minimal geometrical expression, while others are themed with a strong figurative and symbolic reference. Such is the case with our AMIGOS product line, reflecting our emotional bond with animal life. On the other hand, the products with strong geometric identity are the result of our experiments in techno-morphology, a clear expression of the form/structure relationship. Far from being high-tech or mechanistic, this approach to design is rooted in nature’s own structural principles, used as a design strategy, to celebrate its functionality, efficiency and beauty.
