Plant profile: there are more than 700 species of eucalyptus. In aromatherapy, several eucalyptus essential oils are used, of which Eucalyptus globules is the most common. This evergreen tree from Australia can grow to a height of up to 300 feet (90 meters) when mature. The aromatic leaves are bluish-green on the upper surface and paler underneath. The leaves and the essential oil have been widely used as a household remedy in Australia from the days of the Aborigines to treat fevers, respiratory conditions, and skin infections.
