Plant profile: Rose essential oils are costly and labor – insensitive to produce, rose is one of the most beautiful of the essential oils. The little damask rose from Kazanlik in Bulgaria produces the finest quality rose oil, although Turkish, Moroccan, and Russian rose oils are also excellent. Rose essential oils “otto” is simply distilled rose essential oil – between fifty and one hundred blooms are needed per drop. An “absolute” of rose, chemically extracted, and is also available at a lower cost. Look out for pure rose oil already diluted in jojoba as a more affordable and still effective way to use this oil.
