A monitoring device that cut TV time in half helped overweight children eat less and lose weight, says a study by researchers at the state University of N.Y. at Buffalo. The researchers used a TV allowance machine that has children whose TV time was restricted lost weight after 2 years. Even though there was no difference in the amount of physical activity, restricting TV time could reduce mindless eating or eating stimulated by TV ads, researchers said.
