A new candy may help reduce cavities among children, say researchers at Stony Brook University in N.Y. The researchers developed a candy, called BasicMints, and tested it on 10 and 11-year-olds for a year. The soft mints are designed to get stuck in teeth. They work by neutralizing the acids in saliva that cause cavities. Tests showed BasicMints reduced cavities bye 62%.
