• Heart drug for blacks gets OK. An FDA panel backed Nitromed’s heart-failure pill BiDil, endorsing the first medicine targeted to a particular race. The drug was shown to reduce heart-failure deaths among black Americans by 43%. If OK’d by the FDA, it’s expected to garner $114 million in sales in ’06. Nitromed rose 1.5% to 19.73 on heavy trading.
