Scientists admit fudging studies. A voluntary survey of 3,247 U.S. researchers who received National Institutes of Health funding found one-third engaged in at least 1 scientific misdeed during the last 3 years. Less than 2% admitted to falsifying data, plagiarism or ignoring human studies rules. But nearly 8% circumvented minor aspects of these rules, said Health Partners Research Foundation in the journal Nature. Close to 16% changed a study in response to pressure from a funding source.
