Leg Syndrome, Heavy Drinking, Yeast Infection

November 03, 2005

Restless leg syndrome sufferers often also have depression and anxiety, researchers reported at the annual American College of Chest Physicians meeting. Risk factors linked to restless leg syndrome also include hypertension, gastroesophageal reflux disease, arthritis and diabetes.

Heavy drinking may lower testosterone levels and raise sperm abnormalities, the journal Fertility & Sterility reported. Men who habitually overindulged were also 10 times more likely to have erectile dysfunction, with a 71% suffering compared to a 7% of abstainers.

Women under stress may be more prone to recurrent yeast infection, according to the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Lower levels of the stress-fighting hormone cortisol were linked with recurrent infections.
