ACE exhibitors, which are often used to treat high blood pressure, more than triple the risk of birth defects among pregnant women who take the drug, the New Engalnd Journal of Medicine reported. Of babies exposed to ACE exhibitors, 7% developed major birth defects compared with 2% of babies whose mothers took no high blood pressure medication.
