Americans Have Fewer Friends
The number of people who say they don’t have any close confidantes has more than doubled in the last 20 years, Duke University researchers said. About 25% of Americans now say they have no close friends or relatives. The total numbers of confidantes Americans have also dropped, declining from an average of three in ’85 to only two in ’04. Meanwhile, the percentage of people who confide in only their spouse shot up 50%.
