Yale researchers said they created a biological using nanotechnology that could be far more effective at detecting possible terror threats, or detecting early signs of cancer. The sensors, made using similar technology that enables chipmakers to put millions of circuits in a single PC processor, would be able to detect extremely low concentrations of a targeted substance, whether it be a toxic substance or human antibody. Researchers said in Nature magazine that they expect a hand held version of their sensor to be available in several years.
