Depression Diagnoses Doubted
One in 4 people that psychiatrists diagnose as depressed may only be reacting normally to stressful events, according to a Columbia University study reported in the Washington Post. The study of about 8,000 people also suggested that drug treatment for people also suggested that drug treatment may often be inappropriate for people who are going through painful-but-normal responses to stress. About 1 in 6 Americans are estimated to suffer depression at some point in their lives.
