Drugs Pulled on Risk to Infants
Johnson & Johnson’s Pediacare Infant Drops and Tylenol Concentrated Infant Drops were voluntarily pulled due to government concerns about health risks for infants. Wyeth’s Dimetapp Decongestant Infant Drops, Novartis’ Triaminic Infant and Toddler Thin Strips and Prestige Brands’ Little Colds Decongestant Plus Cough were also pulled. J&J rose 0.2% to 65.95, Wyeth fell 0.8% to 45.78 and Prestige dipped 0.3% to 11.13.
Wyeth was hit by a $134.5 million judgment in a lawsuit filed by three women who claimed the company’s hormone replacement drugs caused their breast cancer. A Nev. Jury will next decide on punitive damages. The company also faces about 5,300 similar suits.
