Green Chemists a Growing Niche Environmental chemistry is becoming the hottest science major. The idea is that chemical process and products can be designed without using toxins or generating hazardous waste. Currently, a dozen colleges in the U.S. teach “green chemistry,” and the number is growing. Cambridge College in Massachusetts even offers environmental law which is not traditionally taught to chemistry majors. Businesses also welcome green chemists to make or save money in manufacturing, disposal and cleanup of products.
