Cancer patients without insurance are twice as likely to die within 5 years, according to American Cancer Society Researchers. The study suggests that this disparity is deeply rooted, since those without insurance are less likely to get recommended cancer screenings, lessening their chance of catching the disease early. An Associated Press study concluded that those living with cancer and without insurance are a small minority, around 4%, due to vast Medicaid and Medicare coverage.
