Coffee drinkers are about 60% less likely to develop tye-2 diabetes, even in those with early signs of diabetes, vs. those who abstain from the beverage. The University of California, San Diego, studied 910 people, ages 50 and older with no diabetes, and found the protective effect wasn’t caffeine, since decaffeinated coffee also helped.
