Beans, Beans the Magical Fruit
People who eat 4 or more servings of beans a week are 33% less likely to develop a colon adenoma, a non-cancerous tumor that can progress into colon cancer. The National Cancer Institute’s study of 35,000 participants also found those who consume more dry beans are 45% less likely to face a recurrence of advanced adenoma compared with those who decrease the amount of beans they eat. Four or more servings of beans a week also decrease the risk of heart disease by 22% vs. those who eat beans less than once a week.
