Nearly 24 mil Americans have diabetes, an increase of more than 3 mil in two years, new gov't data showed. In addition, another 57 mil Americans had pre-diabetes, which puts people at increased risk for diabetes. The disease still disproportionately affects the elderly. About 25% of people age 60 and older had diabetes in 2007, the Centers for Disease Control said.
