Geranium Essential Oil (Flower Oil)
Plant profile: This is a tropical geranium with velvety, frilly leaves. Rubbing the tiny surface hairs releases a strong, rosy aroma onto your fingers. The geranium grows as a shrub up to three feet (1 meter) in height and has pinkish flowers. Geranium essential oil has a powerful floral aroma. The island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean produces the best – quality oil. Chinese and Egyptian geranium essential oils are also available but have a much heavier fragrance.
Fragrance profile: Geranium essential oils are rosy, sweet, and strong, with a hint of lemon and fresh green note.
Main Uses: Geranium essential oils soothe cracked and inflamed skin, eczema, dermatitis, acne, and congested or oily skin; eases premenstrual symptoms such as lack of energy, bloatedness, and fluid retention; soothes mood swings and helps to balance hormonally related emotional upsets.
