Roman Chamomile Essential Oil (Flower Oil)
Plant profile: The “chamomile” is originally from the Greek kamaimelon, meaning, “ground apple.” This derives from the fact that the plant is low - growing and smells strongly of apples. In roman chamomile’s non – flowering variety, this species of chamomile is often used to make a fragrant lawn. The flowers, however, are required for distillation. The essential oil has a pale blue color due to the presence of a substance called “azulene,” which has anti- inflammatory properties. The essential oil is now cultivated successfully in the UK.
Fragrance profile: Roman chamomile essential oils are fruity (apple – like), sweet, fresh, and soft.
Main Uses: Roman chamomile essential oils soothe cuts, burns, sore, dry skin, diaper rash; ease menstrual cramps, premenstrual low energy, and tension; soothes headaches, migraine; helps insomnia, nervous exhaustion, tension, restlessness, and stress – related problems.
