Peppermint (Leaf Oil)
Plant profile: Peppermint essential oil is a tall vigorous mint with a very invasive habit – ask any gardeners! Peppermint spreads rapidly through tough root systems, and will displace other more tender herbs in a plot unless it is contained in some way. The square, erect stems support deep – green aromatic leaves and, if let untrimmed, the plant will produce tall heads of tiny, white flowers. Peppermint essential oil comes mainly from the USA, and is used, in particular, to flavor toothpaste and chewing gum.
Fragrance profile: Peppermint essential oil is pungent, fresh, zesty, and minty aroma with sweeter notes later.
Main Uses: Peppermint essential oil eases stomach cramps, indigestion, constipation, and nausea; helps muscular aches, stiffness, backache; eases headaches and migraine; clears the head and improves concentration.
Safety information: If your skin is sensitive, used half the stated drops of peppermint in any blend due to the menthol content in the peppermint essential oil, which can act as an irritant.
