Rosemary (Leaf Oil)
Plant profile: The name “rosemary” means “rose of the sea,” a reference to the original habit of the plant on the dry, sandy coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. Even today, the best pungent oil comes from Spain or North Africa; the hotter and drier climate, the better the aroma. Rosemary essential oil smells quite similar to eucalyptus because they have a fragrant ingredient in common: eucalyptol.
Fragrance profile: Rosemary essential oil is a strong, camphoraceous, fresh and herbal aroma with a definite eucalyptus tone.
Main Uses: Rosemary essential oil eases muscular aches and pains, and backache, poor circulation; stimulates the scalp and eases dandruff; clears the breathing in colds, influenza, or sinusitis; stimulates the mind and wakes up the brain.
Safety information: rosemary essential oil is not advised for people with high blood pressure, as it is a stimulating oil. People who suffer from epilepsy should also best avoid Rosemary.
