Cypress (Leaf Oil)
Plant profile: Tall, evergreen cypress trees are an elegant feature in Italy, France, Corsica, Sardinia, Spain, and Portugal. The Latin name sempervivens means “ ever living,” a reference to the long life of the species. Cypress are often planted near dwellings or near churches to signify eternal life. The Cypress essential oil comes from the young twigs and leaves, which are highly aromatic. Distillation takes place mostly in France or Spain.
Fragrance profile: Cypress essential oil is smoky, earthy, and green with camphoraceous and sweet notes.
Main Uses: Cypress essential oil clears oily skin and blocked pores; improves lymphatic drainage and cellulite; eases spasmodic coughs and bronchitis; soothes fraught emotions.
